Good morning. Nearly nine years ago, a man clad in denim, rocking a world-class mullet, coined the phrase, “Don’t be silly, I’m just gonna send it,” right before pushing the limits of man and snow-machine alike. That man is Larry Enticer.

Type “is snowmobiling” into Google, and the third suggestion is a question that divides small towns across the country. Four words that are harmless on their own, but when brought together, are sure to spark a lively debate at any Boston Pizza north of Highway 7.

Is snowmobiling a sport?

Personally, I’d file it under “aggressively sitting.” I mean, would you consider Jet Skiing a sport? It’s a ton of fun and gets you off the couch, but I don’t think we’ll be seeing it in the Olympics anytime soon. And just because I’m saying that here, in the safety of the internet, doesn’t mean I’d ever say it aloud at any of Boston Pizza’s 365-plus nationwide locations—some truths are best left un-sent.
